SafeArrival: Why do I need a SchoolMessenger Home app account?

2 min. readlast update: 02.13.2024

A SchoolMessenger Home app account is not required to use the toll-free phone line to report absences. However, we strongly recommend that you provide your email address to the school and set up your SchoolMessenger Home app account. This allows you to review and update absences, review your contact information and communication preferences and more. This information is typically recorded in our Student Information System (PowerSchool) at the time of enrollment and during back-to-school events.

Please see related SchoolMessenger Home app documentation for setting up your account, resetting your password, reviewing contact information, and specifying communication preferences. Once you have set up your account, choose ATTENDANCE from the menu.

If you cannot set up your account, you do not see the ATTENDANCE option, or you do not see your child(ren) listed in your account, please contact the school directly to check that your correct email address is associated with your child(ren).

When logged in to the SchoolMessenger Home App you have several options outside of the Attendance reporting function to help stay connected with your child(ren)'s school and communications from the District and District level departments. Along with Attendance reporting features the SchoolMessenger Home App functionality includes individual and group (e.g., classes, sports teams, PTO groups) two-way messaging; the ability for teachers and families to exchange files, images, and videos (e.g., photographed permission slips); and the ability for you to review all notifications and messages related to your schools and district in a single, scrollable, “stream” view.
